Mr John Essandoh

University of Cape Coast, Ghana

John is a medical entomologist and a research fellow of UCC and currently a PhD student of Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He has a particular interest in understanding the ecological and genetic basis of resistance to insecticides currently in use. His current study seeks to provide information such as the size of populations, their connectivity and movements of resistant loci in Anopheles gambiae. This information is critical for predicting how niche shifts may occur in response to anthropogenic changes such as urbanisation or insecticidal pressure, and also for designing effective preventive measures in the field to combat malaria.
