Janet Midega is a Research Associate in Anopheles population genomics. She is currently part of the Kwiatkowski group at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics at Oxford University and is working jointly with the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Kilifi, Kenya. The main focus of her current research is the use of next generation sequencing approaches to understand the genetic evolution of Anopheles gambiae within the context of a transition in the epidemiology of malaria along the Kenyan coast following increased use of ITNs. Janet received a PhD in Zoology from the University of Ghana, specializing in the population ecology and genetics of Anopheles gambiae and An. funestus.
